LITTLE JACK’S TAVERN
The talented team at Leon’s Oyster Shop has brought another culinary gem to Charleston. Little Jack’s Tavern recently opened up on Upper King Street in what used to be the St. Albans location. The renovation of the space from coffee bar to comfortable tavern is a screaming success. The black leather booths, seductive red bar, vintage photographs, elegant lighting and classic green and white tablecloths all conspire to create a modern classic.
Little Jack’s is open from 11 am to 10 pm on weekdays and from 11 am to 10:30 pm on weekends. The Lunch and Dinner menu are largely the same and offer delicious choices. At lunch there are offerings of Little Snacks including warm cheese puffs, garlic and herb fries, and crudités and dip. They are all perfectly executed and wonderful ways to start a meal. Next, are salad options, including one of our personal favorites, the Shrimp and Farro Salad with accompaniments of pistachio, herbs, and radish.
A chicken cutlet schnitzel sandwich with cucumber and avocado ranch fulfills all your chicken sandwich cravings in an exciting way. The pastrami sandwich on marbled rye, with mustard seed and Gruyere cheese makes you feel transported straight to NYC. And finally, the Jack’s Burger is one of the best we have had in a very long time. Accented by Casatica di bufala and caramelized shallots, the burger was a mouth watering culinary experience.
Just in time for summer, our friends at Little Jack’s have come out with a fun, exciting, and fresh menu. We are so excited about this new, delicious lunch and dinner spot! Charleston is known for its impressive food scene and Little Jack’s is definitely a welcome addition.
