2019 WINE + FOOD RECAP
Salthouse was honored to participate in several events at this year’s Charleston Wine + Food Festival. The team had a great time attending other events, catching up with friends from previous years, and meeting so many new faces!
On Thursday March 7th, Executive Chef and owner, Todd Mazurek, along with Sous Chef, Jonathan Hall, served up quite a unique tasting plate. Red Royal Shrimp and duck fat fried potatoes composed the base of the dish, but the shining stars were served on top. Our chefs used heat to melt the raclette, a soft cheese, right onto each plate before finishing with our rouille, fresh horseradish, and fried shrimp cracklins. Snacks and a show!
Sous Chef, Jake Stone, and owner, Tanya Gurrieri, enjoyed serving up a family style brunch at The Post and Courier’s Boss Lady event on March 8th at at the Anthropologie store on King Street. Salthouse was thrilled to be a part of this celebration of International Women’s Day along with our favorite mixologists, The Cocktail Bandits. Deviled farm eggs, pimento cheese biscuits, and our smoked salmon tea sandwiches were big hits amongst the esteemed guests and panelists. The menu also included our red and golden quinoa salad with english cucumber and crumbled feta, as well as our local kale salad with local cherry tomatoes, dried blueberries, sunflower seeds, gouda, english peas, and our lemon vinaigrette.
We closed out a wonderful week on Sunday in beautiful Marion Square’s Culinary Village, where our team had the opportunity to serve for two events.
We were thrilled to set up our Best of Season display in the Industry/Media Tent. This display features a chef’s selection of local seasonal vegetables which are roasted, pickled, marinated, and raw. Assortments of fresh fruits, olives, and cured meats with gourmet mustards are served alongside, the star of every show, house made pimento cheese with lavosh chips and mini buttermilk biscuits.
Marriott Chase Bonvoy offered card holders access to a special two-story booth in the Hub overlooking Marion Square. Guests were offered Salthouse’s AMAZING Biscuit Bar with an array of mini biscuits, including sweet potato and cheddar & chive, along with a variety of jams and condiments such as apricot, smoke cranberry, and several butters.
This year’s Wine + Food Festival was one of Charleston’s best and busiest! We were so delighted to participate again this year, and we are so proud of our team for all their hard work, as well as the other talented groups in attendance.
